In 2025, the Limburg Youth Symphony Orchestra (LJSO) will celebrate its 15th anniversary with a series of special musical highlights. The anniversary year will kick off on Sunday 26 January with the Groot Heiligdomsvaart Concert in the Koepelkerk in Maastricht, followed by a grand anniversary concert on Sunday 23 November in the Theater aan het Vrijthof.
For this anniversary concert, the LJSO has managed to enlist none other than the renowned Belgian-Limburg conductor Matty Cilissen. Cilissen is, among other things, conductor of the Greune van Wolder (Harmonie St. Petrus en Paulus), chief conductor of the Philips Harmonie in Eindhoven and a much sought-after guest conductor with various orchestras at home and abroad.
“By choosing Matty Cilissen, we have chosen an inspiring, passionate conductor with a great deal of experience and passion, who is known for his ability to inspire and guide young musicians to optimal performance,” said Jan Martens, chairman of the LJSO.
The anniversary year promises to be a musical celebration in which the young orchestra will demonstrate why it has been a fixture in the Limburg music world for fifteen years.
