On January 11, the LJSO organized a fascinating violin masterclass led by Lei Wang, concertmaster of Philzuid.

A group of young, motivated violinists had the opportunity to work with her on technically and musically challenging repertoire. In addition, Lei provided a group session with the entire string section, in preparation for the concert during the Groot Heiligdomsvaart on January 26.

The program included the third movement of Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E minor, the virtuoso Sonata No. 3 (Ballade) by Eugène Ysaÿe, the Violin Concerto in B minor, and the first movement of Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1.
